Cut to the chase

William Friedkin would say this as he walked by my edit suite. We weren’t working on the same film but our shows were next to each other. It’s a philosophy I try and adhere to in my work. In essence it means, cut away anything that is slowing down your story.

 
 
 

Rowan started out as an Editor working for the Seven Network on the morning TV show SUNRISE in Sydney, Australia where he grew up.

He studied briefly in the US and interned at DREAMWORKS then worked at JOHN WELLS PRODUCTIONS where he worked in the TV Department on THE WEST WING, THIRD WATCH and ER and then went on to work at HBO.

Director Stuart Beattie hired Rowan as his Assistant on the feature film TOMORROW, WHEN THE WAR BEGAN.

His film editing career started with work as an Assistant Editor on 21 & OVER, PARKLAND, THE DISAPPOINTMENTS ROOM, A CURE FOR WELLNESS, MEGAN LEAVERY, SET IT UP and WORDS ON BATHROOM WALLS.

He worked as an Assistant Editor on the Antoine Fuqua films OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN, THE EQUALIZER, SOUTHPAW and THE MAGNIFIENT SEVEN, describing that time as an incredible learning experience under a very talented Director and Editor – John Refoua.

Rowan was the Additional Editor on AS ABOVE, SO BELOW for Legendary Pictures and most recently on the Ric Roman Waugh film GREENLAND.

He has also worked as a VFX Editor on the films GRAN TURISMO and THE WHALE as well as the TV series THE MANDALORIAN.

Rowan also Directed, Wrote, Produced and Edited the award winning short film COLLAR.

As an Editor Rowan cut the feature films RIVER RUNS RED and HELL ON THE BORDER.

INTERCEPTOR is Rowan’s third film as Editor and first with Matthew Reilly.
